About

I am Stijn Van Impe, Fellow of the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO-Vlaanderen) at Ghent University (Belgium).

My research focuses Kant's accounts of an ethical community throughout his writings ('Reich der Gnade', 'System/Reich der Zwecke', 'ethisches gemeines Wesen').

Further topics of specific interest and research in Kant's philosophy concern:

- Doctrine of Virtue
- ethico-theology / moral theism
- friendship
- 'sensus communis'
- maxims of the common human understanding
- aspects related to moral life

PhD advisory board: Prof. Dr. Eric Schliesser (Ghent University: supervisor),  Prof. Dr. Lucas Thorpe (Bogazici University: co-supervisor), Prof. Dr. Jens Timmermann (St. Andrews University), Prof. Dr. Maarten Van -Dyck (Ghent University), Prof. Dr. Geert Van  Eekert (Antwerp University)

I wish to express my sincere gratitude to all my fellow Kant and philosophy scholars who have supported my research (and continue to do so) and have provided me with invaluable feedback on my research as well as to all my closest and dearest friends for their love, kindness, generosity, confidence, and moral support.
