Thesis Title: Citizen journalism as a challenge to traditional media. In pursuit of a typology for citizen media and their influence on traditional journalistic models.

About

I am a senior researcher at the Department of Communication Studies at Ghent University (Belgium), where I am also member of the Center for Journalism Studies. I have conducted PhD research for an FWO (Research Foundation – Flanders) project that investigated emerging forms of citizen journalism and their interaction with traditional journalistic models. My doctoral research focuses on the impact of emerging internet technologies upon news content, journalistic sourcing practices, and the related changing relationship between journalists and their publics.
